Bountiful Summer
Rainbow through the trees
A Wonderful harvest
August has just gotten away from me. The past couple of months I have managed to get this written by the end of the month, not this month here it is all most a week in and I am just getting it done, so here it is.
I have been talking about harvest this summer. Even though we did not have any fruit this year, we nay have one of our best harvests ever. While we did not harvest fruit, we did harvest the memories and enjoyment of the time spent with family and friends.
First, our granddaughter was over every morning helping out. While she was looking forward to picking fruit and consuming her consuming her fair share, that was not to be. Instead, we did all the not so fun things: weeding, weeding and more weeding. We did have a great summer that I will cherish.
Second, our oldest daughter was able to come home for several days in early July. We do not usually get to see her in the summer. This year we had the time to enjoy her visit since we were not out picking fruit. Five people and five dogs made for a wild time here but it was a wonderful time. Something to remember for years.
Shortly after she headed home, friends from Colorado stopped to visit for s few days. We’ve known them for ages and consider them family. We have not spent any time with them for a couple of years. They had their daughter and grandkids with them. It was fun to do some tourist things in the area. We had a great time.
Last but not least, our niece and her children come out for a visit from North Dakota. Her husband, our nephew, works a crazy amount, 70 plus hours, in the summer. It has been a couple of years since we saw her. We got to see our grand niece and nephew, enjoyed having young kids running around.
That freeze back in May was a double-edged sword. We had no fruit this year, but having no fruit to pick meant we got to enjoy July and August, with family and friends.
I will say it again we have had a wonderful harvest this year, of time with those we love.
